DESCRIPTION:Both a stellar solo artist and innovative composer\, double bas
 sist Edgar Meyer began playing bass when he was five years old. After study
 ing under Stuart Sankey\, Meyer burst onto the classical music scene in the
  early 1990s and has been delighting audiences and critics ever since. He i
 s the only bassist to win the Avery Fisher Prize (2000)\, and he was honore
 d with the MacArthur Genius Award in 2002\, among his many other accolades.

\nKnown for his genre-crossing collaborations\, his latest CD and tour 
 is a departure\, showcasing Meyer on multiple instruments\, layering tracks
  of piano\, banjo\, mandolin\, dobro\, and guitar with his masterful double
  bass in works of his own creation.
