  a veteran's hospital and by the 1960s counterculture movement touting such
  themes as freedom\, rebellion and fearlessness. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's
  Nest is Dale Wasserman's adaptation of the novel. Sentenced to jail for co
 ntributing to the delinquency of a minor\, Randle Patrick McMurphy convince
 s the guards he's crazy enough to need psychiatric care and is sent to a ho
 spital. He fits in surprisingly well\, his point of view actually causing s
 ome of the patients to progress\, until Nurse Ratched decides that things a
 re moving just a little too progressively. It's the classic antiestablishme
 nt tale of one man asserting his individuality in the face of a repressive\
